NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING WEEK OF ACTION - VISIT TO LOCAL BUSINESSES |
||
|
Dear Resident.
As part of today’s activity for Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action, I joined colleagues from neighbourhood teams across the Oldham district to take part in a joint operation with Immigration Enforcement.
Together, we visited a number of local shops and business premises to ensure that no illegal activity was taking place and that all staff were working in line with their visa or immigration conditions.
Operations like this are an important part of keeping our communities safe and fair for everyone. Where individuals are found to be working illegally or in breach of their immigration status, appropriate action will be taken by the relevant authorities.
I want to reassure residents and those who work in our communities that the vast majority of businesses we visited were fully compliant with immigration checks. However, at one premises two unknown males made off from the location upon our arrival. This resulted in a police search of the surrounding area, though no arrests were made on this occasion.
We rely heavily on the support and vigilance of the public. If you see anything suspicious at a business premises, or have concerns about illegal working or related activity, please report it. This allows Police, Immigration Enforcement, and Licensing teams to respond swiftly and appropriately.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
I will keep you updated with other days of action throughout the week.
Regards
PS 1650 Andy Holian Saddleworth & Lees Neighbourhood Sergeant
